In 1986, a company known as Comics Spain produced a line of PVC figures from both of the 1980s Star Wars cartoons: Droids and Ewoks. While the popular toymaker, Kenner, released action figures from these cartoons as well, Comics Spain produced characters that were not made by Kenner and also matched the likeness of each character to their appearance in the cartoon. This blog will explore all the figures that were released, and identify the variations that made their way to the market.

Another Teebo Key Ring Surfaces
In 2012, we found a Teebo key ring on Ebay, and another recently surfaced at auction coming out of Spain. I'm told that some of the original paint from the hood is on the key ring itself, which leads me to believe that these could have been produced at the Comics Spain factory.

Custom Baga the Bordok
I repainted a vintage Kenner figure in the cartoon colors to create this Baga the Bordok (Ewok horse) custom. I intended for it to fit in with my Comics Spain collection, since one was never produced for the line.

Dulok: Paint Error
Here is an example of a simple paint error on the Dulok figure - the fur on the top of its head is painted tan, like the highlights on its face and feet. Errors differ from variants, as they are not intentional and are the result of mistakes from an individual figure painter.

Another Kneesaa Error Surfaces
Another paint error for the Comics Spain Kneesaa figure has surfaced at auction. It sports the same error as previously discussed - the flower stem is painted brown instead of green. The deco appears to be slightly different than the error reported back in 2010 - so more than one copy is now known to exist.

C-3PO: Uncirculated Bootleg
A new addition to the collection - a C-3PO bootleg figure based on the Comics Spain / Disney sculpt. This copy, from a collector in Germany, was described as uncirculated due to its condition. Its been in the same collection since its release, and was never played with. Like most Polish / German C-3PO bootlegs, its made of a teal / green colored rubber, and sports gold and blue highlights. This is the first version I have seen with white pupils for eyes though. Like other bootlegs, it has no copyright markings.

Custom Comics Spain Season 2 Wicket
Here is a custom vintage Comics Spain Season 2 Wicket (alternate hood). I've always wondered what Season 2 figures would have looked like, so I decided to make one - I was inspired by the upcoming comic Star Wars: Ewoks - Shadows of Endor.
