In 1986, a company known as Comics Spain produced a line of PVC figures from both of the 1980s Star Wars cartoons: Droids and Ewoks. While the popular toymaker, Kenner, released action figures from these cartoons as well, Comics Spain produced characters that were not made by Kenner and also matched the likeness of each character to their appearance in the cartoon. This blog will explore all the figures that were released, and identify the variations that made their way to the market.

Latara Key Ring: common?
In previous years, the Teebo key ring had become increasingly common on auction websites, now Latara is being found more frequently. Below are two more samples, both missing the chain and ring. Notice the differing placement of the screw connector - both in front and behind the feather.
Another C-3PO Paint Error
C-3PO paint errors are becoming more common, and this sample is likely nothing more than poor craftsmanship. The deco on the face includes a large dark splotch of paint, though his eyes appear to be painted correctly.

Teebo Paint Error
Teebo is one of the few Comics Spain figures that had no known paint variations during its production run, but a paint error was recently found at auction. While insignificant, fans of the line will notice that this sample has an unpainted brown nose, when compared to the standard painted version which is black.

C-3PO Paint Error
This C-3PO figure (which sold at auction) appears to be from the Comics Spain line (no visible markings in this image though), but it looks to be made with a different type of plastic / rubber, as its very shiny. Its also possible that this figure was sprayed or dipped in an substance that would cause the same result. Its one of a few paint error C-3PO figures known.

Teebo Key Ring: Becoming More Common?
Over the years, a few Teebo key rings have surfaced at auction, this year a few more appeared - making this collectible a bit more common to find. We also have confirmation from a Spanish seller that these were indeed produced as a novelty item. The various Ewoks were most often produced as key rings, though a Dulok sample has also been found. Teebo is the most common, followed by Latara.

Unpainted C-3PO
This is the first unpainted C-3PO I've seen from the Comics Spain line - it sold at auction with no details about its origin. Is it an error? An unpainted prototype? Its also possible that this item was customized, by having the paint stripped. There are unfortunately no details yet to shed light on this items history. With it coming from Spain via auction, my guess is that it was simply a production piece that was never painted.

Kneesaa: More Paint Errors Surfacing
A couple more paint errors for the Comics Spain Kneesaa figure have surfaced at auction. They sport the same error as previously discussed - the flower stem is painted brown instead of green. The error has only been seen with the yellow flower - but the first sample with a purple flower and the error stem has surfaced.
